Coppell, Texas is a suburb a few miles west of Dallas and just east of the Dallas - Fort Worth International Airport. It's also the place that I've lived the longest in my entire life. Even as a child my parents moved us every few years. I'm originally from New Hampshire, grew up in Florida and moved about the northeast as a young adult but I crossed the Mississippi River to Irving, Texas from upstate New York in 1996 and eventually bought a home in Coppell in 2002.
This year marks my 17th year in our home and my 23rd in Texas. There's a saying in Texas; "I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could." That and it's true; everything really is bigger in Texas :).
Why all this information about Coppell and Dallas? Because it's week 9 of the Pet Photography 52 Week Project and the subject is "No Place Like Home", so enjoy this glimpse into our home and backyard with Jiffy the Cat, Dingo, Ginger and Gracie.

Welcome to our Home
Dingo (white), Ginger (yellow) and Gracie (brown) welcome you to our home. I'd like to say the they greet all visitors at the front door like this but really it's more like a scrambling, barking, free-for-all of excitement when we have visitors.
We Like to Lay Around the House
These are just some of the sights you'll see in our home; Jiffy (aka "Jiffy the Cat", aka "JTC") and the pups do nothing but lie around the house and wait for the next feeding, walk or petting. They really are just furry slugs, but we love them to pieces.
We Like to Run Around Outside
The moderate north Texas climate means we get to enjoy our backyard about 9 months of the year. Games of chase regularly occur around the pool, as does the occasional swim. Jiffy takes advantage of the few weeks a year that we can open our windows and enjoys the outdoors through the screen.
Bonus Video
In my former corporate career I traveled about 70% of the time. I'm famous for having a 7 year-old vehicle that only had 37,000 miles on it. Why? Because we live 8 miles from the airport and I was always on an airplane. My car might have had low miles, but my frequent flier account never did. I flew 100,000 - 150,000 miles a year for almost two decades. There was nothing that I loved more than coming home! Home, sweet home AND the welcome I would get from the dogs upon my arrival; my husband decided to record it one night. To this day, the words "Mommy's home!" are only rivaled by the word "walk" to stir excitement in the dogs.
Now let's see what Linda Perdue of VP Shoots Photography serving the Tampa Bay, Florida areas has done with the theme "home sweet home" and then continue clicking on the link at the bottom of each post for an around-the-world tour of stunning pet photography.

Elaine - Thanks for sharing your home with us! Beautiful photos. I too used to travel endlessly for work, but I had the one year old car with 50,000 miles! :)

Linda Perdue - Love you photos! The 'welcome home' video is a great touch. I have similar welcome home - but I've only been gone a few hours! I think they would go nuts if I was gone for days (haven't tried that yet - they go with, or I don't go).

Jo Lyons - Great post Tracy and it's great to see how other pet photographer's own furkids hang out together at home. You have a beautiful little family there. Aww that video at the end... I can relate so much.

Angela Schneider - I didn't have to travel near as much as you did for corporate life but coming home was always the best part!
