I can't help but feel that the graduates of the class of 2020 are not getting the recognition they so richly deserve for their accomplishments. Families who supported their kids through 4 years of college were denied the chance to watch them walk across the stage and accept their diploma. No parties. No out-of-town visitors. The kids finished their last exam and came home with little to no fanfare save for maybe being handed a face mask.

I've photographed a number of graduates at my Carrollton studio this year and enjoyed learning more about them, their majors and future plans. I think the proud parents savored even this small bit of fuss over their children's accomplishments.  A cap and gown portrait really cements their achievement and prints can be shared with friends and family. All sessions are no-contact and I wear a face mask throughout (I've had some interesting conversations with med school grads!). 

Beyond the obligatory face mask graduation portrait for the Class of 2020, I like to try to create something unique for each person. When I learned Andy plays tennis, I suggested he kiss his diploma just like tournament winners kiss their trophy. He loved the idea and I think it might be his favorite picture.
