There's an old Hollywood adage; "Never work with children or animals", because they'll upstage you every time but luckily the opposite is true for photography. Put kids and animals together and you get magic like with Amelia and Maggie photographed in the wildflowers of Prairie Creek Park in Richardson, Texas. Amelia's grandmother called me to inquire about photographing her with her own French Bulldog puppy, Maggie. "Stop" I said, "You had me at puppy!". Make it a French Bulldog with a cute as can be toddler and I was in photographer's heaven.
I suggested a field of wildflowers near where the family lived and Grandma brought reinforcements with Amelia's parents, so yes, we had four adults to wrangle and photograph a two year old and a puppy. Yep, that sounds about right! We had a beautiful morning the day of the session and everything went off without a hitch. I've learned to keep things moving with children and husbands - oops - I mean puppies (but actually the same holds true for hubs as well!) so we pulled off 3 outfits and over a hundred images of Amelia and Maggie, Amelia by herself and of course Maggie by herself in 45 minutes before the wheels fell off and Amelia was over it all.
The morning sun provided the prefect backlighting for this session so it was a natural choice for this week's theme of the Pet Photography 52 week challenge, which is "back lighting".
