It's week 38 of the Pet Photography 52 Week Project and the subject is "motion". I was on vacation this past week which meant that I had one day to photograph the theme AND write my blog post but I pulled it out on Thursday before the rains began (again!).
There's no better place to find dogs in motion than at the dog park and luckily I have two within a mile of where I live in Coppell. I cruised past the Waggin' Tails Dog Park in Coppell but there wasn't much action going on there so I headed over to the McInnish Dog Park in Carrollton and scored a small group of rowdy dogs (plus it has a water feature so my fingers were crossed that there would be some swimmers there)!
I also took this opportunity to finally take a new camera body out for a spin and put it's 14 frames-per-second capability to the test. The verdict? WINNER! I'm in love and can't wait to use it in upcoming sessions as the holiday portrait season heats up!
Dogs at Play
After having asked the humans if it was ok to photograph their dogs, I was treated to this triad roughhousing it up. Despite how it looks in the images, as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge and Skills Assessed (yeah, that's a mouthful so we just use half the alphabet and go by "CPDT-KSA") I recognized equal play by all three dogs (i.e. everyone was getting as good as they are giving) along with frequent self-interruptions. Dog parks aren't for every dog so it was fun to watch these three enjoy themselves as well as their attentive owners (another plus!).

Lynda Mowat - Those facial expressions make me smile! They’re all having so much fun! Love the action shots, but the bloodhound (Moose) shake would have to be my favourite!

Jessica - That bloodhound is the best! I love the water images; it’s so fun to capture not only the dog in motion but also the water drops.

Tracy Allard - Thanks for introducing us to Scout Cami, he was a real ham and made for a nice contrast against the two lighter dogs. I'll put up a few more of the images in a private gallery for you.

Cami Gordon - These pictures turned out beautifully, I especially adore the ones of my spunky little boy Scout! Scout happens to be 13 month-old all black Huskey/German Shepard mix. Fun fact, Scout actually has an undercoat that consists of several shades of browns, whites, and grays on his tail. He definitely has some more growing to do but has a personality like no other with his curly tail and ears that go in all different directions. His favorite activities consist of going on truck rides, playing with frisbees/tennis balls. swimming, wrestling, and of course talking! Even though he loves playing at the dog park he can certainly lack coordination but as you said he makes up for it with incredible enthusiasm! I would absolutely love to see more pictures of him if you have them! But thank you so very much for sharing!!

Danyel Rogers - The blood hound shakes are amazing, but I thoroughly enjoy the first play grouping just as much. They always look so mean when they get stopped mid playing with other dogs. Love them!

Tracy Allard - Hi Kristin,
Moose was the perfect subject for this "motion" blog, I'm so glad that you enjoyed seeing his pictures and it's nice to know his name!
Study hard!

Kristin hodges - My dad had texted me a link to this site where I could find pictures of my sweet Moose! (The bloodhound) Moose is a registered Bloodhound, he is 5 years old and weighs 118 lbs! (His mom was 129lbs!) he loves to swim and sing (as you can imagine it’s just a really loud long howl that we love so much) his favorite place is the dog park and loves to chase the laser pointer! I am away at college and it was so nice to see these awesome pictures! I miss him so much! I gave you a shout out on Facebook and tagged you in the photographs! Thank you so so so much!
