Ashley knew she wanted to incorporate the Dallas skyline in her portraits and left the rest up to me. I knew that at a certain time of the day, when the sun started to set, it would light up the skyline in a warm, orange glow. It was a scorching October day when we met at a nondescript location for her to follow me to an even MORE nondescript location to park and make the short hike to get the skyline view that I wanted for her sunset session.
Nika is an active dog and Ashley wanted images that captured that so we had some fun while waiting for perfect lighting and then all of a sudden it happened. I had everything all set up and we captured a few frames before it was gone. But we got the frame we wanted! This image graced her Christmas card and I think it's one of my favorites of all time because you know that everything came together in one moment to be able to create an image like that.
"City Life" is the theme for week 24 (crikey, we're almost half way through the year!) of the 52 Week Pet Photography Project and I couldn't think of a better session to match it. Not just because of the skyline, but because Nika is a city dog who lives downtown!
