It's week 14 of the Pet Photography 52 Week Project and we're entering our 2nd week of shelter-in-place as ordered by Dallas County. We are allowed to go outside for personal exercise so Rooney and I decided to drive to a nearby field and exercise ourselves in the blooming bluebonnets. The bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas and its killing every photographer in the metroplex that they're in bloom RIGHT NOW, but alas there are certainly more important things to worry about right now.
Getting your child's, or pet's, portrait taken in the bluebonnets is a rite of passage in Texas and this is Rooney's first year to see them. This week's theme in the project is "wide open spaces"; we certainly have a lot of that in Texas and that's also where you'll often find bluebonnets. I decided to have a little fun with this week's theme and photograph Rooney with my ultra-wide angle lens to capture more of the wide open sky. Photographing up close with a wide angle lens introduces distortion and the closer you get, the more extreme it gets - in this case the results were hilarious; I hope you enjoy this little break from reality.
